Whitby's Secret Past: The History of Camp X
Arriving at Camp X

Located at the end of Thornton Road, to enter Camp X undetected drivers were never to turn down Thornton Road if there was another car in sight. If another car was present, they were to continue on driving and try again later. The outside of Camp X was very nondescript.

There were no barbed wire fences beyond the original fences used to keep cattle in when the land was a farm. Camp X used the original farmhouses, barns, and other outbuildings that were already on the property to appear as inconspicuous as possible. Only small Department of National Defense signs indicated that it was government property.
