No this isn't the wharf. Actually this building is in the middle of Burk's Falls along Ontario Street. You can see the river from this building. The point I'm making is if this is snow fall in the town what's the wharf like?
A postcard of the Armour and another boat in the background. After a few heavy snows moving around the wharf becomes difficult...but not impossible.
During the winter hunters would come from great distances, like Toronto or The United States, to hunt in Burk's Falls and the surrounding area. Taking the train right to the wharf the hunters would get off and then charter boats to their cabins or lodges.
The hunters may leave on one of these boats. Taking them up a half-frozen river. A lot of what happens on the Magnetawan just seems to stop when the river freezes. In the lower right corner are logs that will wait for spring to come out of the river.
Leaving the Magnetawan Wharf we see finished lumber ready to leave or be used in the spring. The pier is closed and this is where we close this chapter on Burk's Falls.
