Portrait Photograph of Dick Monroe, circa 1915 Details

Early in the twentieth century photography was a bit of a novelty. Having your picture taken would have been an event and you always wanted to look your best. For most young men at that time this mean wearing your military uniform. This is a picture of Dick Monroe. This picture was likely taken at Lily Faulkner Studios in Sundridge.

Here's another studio portrait of a soldier, Hezzie Towle, from the 162nd Battalion. Like all of the other soldiers in the area he was a member of the 162nd Battalion. Like the other pictures this photo was likely taken at Lily Faulkner Studio.

A photograph of three military men in uniform. The men on the left and right are sailors. The sailor on the right is Mac Lang. The man in the middle is an Air Man of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). The airman's name is Harold Kidd.

One more studio portrait of a soldier from the 162nd Battalion. His name is Orville Hamilton of the 162nd Battalion. Like the other pictures this one was likely taken at Lily Faulkner Studio.

Not all of the pictures of soldiers in Sundridge were taken at a studio. Here we have two soldiers posing for a picture at the railway station. You can see luggage behind them on an elevated platform. This was likely taken at the Sundridge Grand Trunk Railroad Station.
