The soldiers of the 162nd Battalion presenting their colours to the the people of Sundridge. The 162nd Battalion camped and trained at the Paget Farm near the village. The soldiers would have trained at the camp. This would have an important event for the village.

Soldiers from the 162nd take time out to pose for a picture. These soldiers have balanced their guns to make a pyramid. It must have been a cold to wear those fur hats.

A postcard of the 162nd battalion camped on the Paget Farm. The field is surrounded by forest. The men are still setting up the tents in the camp.

Back in the day military units would have mascots. In this case it was this young bear cub. Apparently, it was before animal rights. Take a look at the chain and leash around the bear's neck.

In the end though these men who trained in the area were destined to fight in Europe during the First World War. The lessons they learned here would be invaluable in battle there.
