2“ St. Lawrence College MARTIN NAMED CORNWALL PRINCIPAL A.L. (Bert) Martin, 37, has been named Principal of St. Lawrence College's Cornwall Campus. The announcement was made today by College President, W.W. Cruden, (June 19, 1979). Mr. Martin, who is currently Chairman of Campus Services, succeeds Mr. L.J. Tremblay, who is resigning to enter private practice as a Consultant. Mr. Martin's appointment becomes effective July 1, 1979. Mr. Martin has extensive teaching and management ex- perience. He joined St. Lawâ€" rence College in Sept., 1967, when the College opened its doors for the first time, as a Mathematics Teaching Master. The following year, he became Chairman of Business, an academic post he held for 4 years. In March, 1972, he became Chair- man of Student Services and in July, 1973, Chairman of Campus Development. In July 1974, he was appointed to his present position. Prior to joining St. Law- rence, Mr. Martin was an Ac- counting Supervisor with Fran- con Limited of Montreal and an Auditor with Clarkson, Gordon 6 Company, Chartered Account- ants. Mr. Martin holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Loyola College. Active in his community, Mr. Martin chaired the 1974 United Way Campaign, was Chairman of the Cornwall Civic Complex's Financial Sub-Committee, and is a former Chairman of the . Cornwall Housing Authority. He also organized a provinceâ€"wide lottery for the Kinsmen Club of Ontario. Mr. Martin is married and the father of two children.
