With the ideal weather conditions that have prevail- ed campers and visitors by the thouâ€" sands have come to enjoy their fav- ourite outdoor recreation. The park offers a variety of activities from just camping and relaxing in the out of doors to hiking on heavily for- ested nature trails. With 25 miles of shoreline Beverley Lake is ideal for fishing, canoeing, water skiing or swimming and enjoying the Sun on the park's sandy beaches. The rec- reation area contains numerous chil- dren's play equipment with a baseball diamond, horse shoes and an expansive informal games area. The picnic area located on the water front amongst pine and cedar trees is very popular for family and group picnics. The development of the park started as a centennial project by the Townâ€" ship of Bastard and Burgess through the assistance of the Provincial Parks Assistance Act. Federal grants received through the Local Initiat- ives Program has permitted continued development to be carried on during the winter and spring months. During the open season the park pro- vides employment for 15 persons who are mostly students from the Surrounâ€" ding area. The Junior Red Cross Swimming and Survival Program is con- ducted in the park each summer and is well attended by the children in the area. The program this year was su~ pervised by Sharon Murphy and Brent Mills was the assistant instructor. The park has 180 trailer and tent sites scattered amongst 106 acres of pine and cedar forest. Facilit- ies include electrical and water hook-ups, dumping station, picnic tables, fire places, boat launch and dockage. The modern service building provides campers with washâ€" room facilities, showers and a laundromat. The park canteen is open daily where campers may pur- chase ice cream, soft drinks, ham- burgers, french fries etc. The park is within walking distance of Delta where one can purchase gro- ceries and other provisions. For those vacationers not wishing to camp there are 8 modern housekeep- ing cottages located on the water front. Day visitors to the park are charged admission $1.50 per car or a season's pass may be purchased for $10.00. So plan a visit to the park this summer and enjoy a pleasant day in the out of doors.
