{, I DE LTA LODGE 1.0. 0.F, The Independent Order of Oddfellows, Third Degree Team of Delta, Lodge No. 265, travelled by bus to a Degree Rally in Ogdensburg, New York, where they were guests of Amity Lodge No. 80. Prescott conferred the Second Degree at 1 o'clock, after which a Roast Beef Dinâ€" ner was served to all present. At 3 o'- clock Delta conferred the Third Degree on a class of 38 candidates. At the conclusion of the meeting, both the Grand Master of the Province of Ontario and the Grand Master of the State of New York gave short addresses. Delta N-H Club The Delta 4-H club held its third meeting at the beef farm of Mr. Earl McEadden of Elgin on June 9. The meetâ€" ing began as usual with the 4â€"H pledge and the reading of the minutes. It was then agreed to challenge the Athens and Lombardy 4â€"H clubs with a baseball game. A weiner roast was also planned at Jones Falls. Definite dates were not set. Out at the barn Mr. McFadden explained to us how and why he had switched from dairy to beef farming. He also pointed out the virtues of the Limousin beef breed on his champion bull and cows. A group of three cows were then judged. The meeting was conâ€" cluded with Richard Chant, vice-pres- ident, thanking Mr. McFadden for showâ€" ing us his beef cows, uncommon to this area. A pen set was presented to him to show our appreciation. John Gunniâ€" wick, a club leader, supplied refreshâ€" ments. The next meeting was scheduled for June 30 at the farm of Ron Chant of Portland. A gift was presented to retiring president, Faye Jansen. The theme of the meeting being Agriculture and Canadian Industries, Leorene Hayes introduced the guests, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hudson of Burn- brae Farms of Lyn. Mr. Hudson showed slides of their business. His Grandâ€" father lived on the same land from 1893, and the business is still lo- cated on the same land. The place was named Burnbrae, which means hills and water. The slides and commentary described the arrival of the chicks, their growth, feeding, debeaking and finally the production of eggs. The eggs are than gathered, washed sorted, graded and loaded on trans- ports for delivery from Bowmanville to the Quebec‘border. Plants are located in Quebec and To- ronto where they are delivevdto the districts nearer. Eggs which are returned or cracked are separated and processed, put in containers and sent to Kraft and other places who buy the mixture for products they make and sell. The meeting closed followed by lunch and gifts presented to our guests. page 9 DELTA LEGION The regular meeting of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch N0. 207, Delta met June 8, 1981, in the Legion Hall, with Vice President Comrade Ralph Hall- aday acting as Chairman. Minutes of the last meeting were read, approved and signed after correcw tions were made. Correspondence was accepted as read and placed on file. The Treasurer's report was passed as read and all bills presented were passâ€" ed and ordered paid. , Building Committee reported that the holding tank has been installed and hooked up. Sports Committee reported that the Horseâ€"shoe Pits are ready to be used. Fund Raising Committee reported that the April winner of 50-50 Draw was Garfield Johnston, Athens and not Car- man Jackson, Elgin, as reported last month in the Lantern. This month's winâ€" ner was Jay Hardy, Brockville, Ticket No. 0522. Plans were made for the com- ing HAM SUPPER, Sunday June 28th, start serving at U o'clock, price $N.OO. Peter Breedyk was appointed Bar Steward for 6 months assisted by Roy Colledge. It was decided that a Plaque be placed on the Cenotaph for Comrade Mott, who gave his life in the war of 1813.
