Mount Pleasant’s history is a story of great labour and ingenuity on the parts of its founders, the Ellis and Sturgis families. These families brought with them the seeds of the community that continues to thrive more than 200 years later. While Mount Pleasant was an empty plot of wooded land when they arrived, these first settlers were able to slowly craft it into a village that “charms with its loveliness” (Jaeger, reverse cover) still today.
