Life and Times of Burk's Falls
The Bridges of Almaguin Highlands

Before we leave Burk's Falls its important to take a look at the bridges of the village. Here are a pair of children taking a walk across the bridge and into Burk's Falls.

This is the Galna Bridge looking into Burk's Falls from the other side of the Magnetawan River. The bridge is metal with decorative railings and rail guards. It was built to connect both sides of the Magnetawan River while being tall enough to let boats through.

This is a postcard of the Burk's Falls Wharf from the Galna Bridge. We can see a railway bridge. That bridge runs into the Knight Brothers lumberyard. The dam and the flume can also be seen. Past that the river appears to be half frozen. However still open enough for boats can operate.

Here's an interesting counter-point to the last image. This is a picture from the Galna Bridge but looking in the opposite direction. Its interesting that this picture has very natural look. It's an interesting contrast to the last picture, which is relatively urban looking.

This is another bridge that goes into Burk's Falls. A version of this bridge still exists, and currently brings people from and to Highway 11. Again, this was built to connect both sides of the Magnetawan River while being tall enough to let boats through. The bridge also crosses over railroad tracks.

As the person on the Galna Bridge leaves Burk's Falls so, we too, leave Burk's Falls. To learn more about Burk's Falls please view some of the other photo-essays on this site.
