- Notes
- Patly Mills was located on the south half of lot 28, on the north side of Taunton Road, east of Chochrane Street. The Patley Mills were established by James Mitchell in 1851 and they processed oatmeal and flour. James Mitchell was drowned in a boating accident on Lake Ontario in 1853. His widow, Elizabeth, married John Thomson, who died in 1874. In 1874 the Patley Mills were sold to John Cooper who left in 1878 and came back to operate the mills in the early 1880s. He sold the mills in 1907 and retired and it is unlikely that they operated past this date.
This view is looking south-east from the current site of Cullen Gardens. This mill pond is located where the Cottage Country section of the Miniature Village was situated. - Date of Original
