A recognition night will be held for Joe Nieuwendyk, Friday July 3, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Heydenshore Pavilion.
Nieuwendyk, who played for the Calgary Flames for part the 1986-87 hockey season, returned home to Whitby on Tuesday (June 30) after finishing his year at Cornell University.
Among those expected to attend the night will be Gary Roberts, of Whitby, who also played with the Calgary Flames, and member of the Cornell team.
Tickets at $10 per person are available at Peacock Sports, G.N. Auto or the door that night.
Proceeds from the night will be donated to Whitby minor hockey and Whitby minor lacrosse.
