In 1967, Canada celebrated its Centennial of Confederation. Parades and other celebrations were held all over the country. Expo '67 in Montreal was another great way to celebrate 100 years of the formation of Canada.
These images of the Centennial parade in Whitby in 1967 were brought to us by Mary-Ann Henderson. Her mother, Lenny Henderson, snapped these photos from a great spot on Brock Street South just south of Colborne Street. What a view!
Residence of Earl Carr, 1958
DetailsDonated by Terry Hollings, this photograph shows the Carr residence and farm. It was located at 819 Dundas Street West; the lot is currently occupied by a Tim Horton's and a shopping plaza. Terry's mother, Hazel, acquired the hand-coloured photograph from her aunt and uncle.
This early 20th century photograph gives us a clear view of Heydenshore Park, Lake Ontario, and the pumping station (background, left). Heydenshore Park was a haven in the summer months as cottagers flocked to the shores of Lake Ontario to enjoy its cool waters.
