PUBLISHER AND EDITOR - EGON NIELSEN. It was decided that a maintenance co-ordinator be appointed in each town at a suitable remuneration to work in conjunction with the principals and trust- ees concerned. And that a committee of four mem- bers be formed, one from each town, to outline the duties of these maintenance co-ordinators and to sug- gest a remuneration. Two school principals will be added to this committee as advisors. The commitiee members named were. Y .T. Butler, G. Godin, N. Kriplani, and B. McDonald. The principals' recommendations regarding School Boy and High School curling were accepted. The re- commendations being as follows: School Boy curling - this is not a school sport but as an operation under the aegis of the local Men's Curling Club. The curl- ers themselves are attending school . It is suggested that the Board support the School Boy Curling to the extent that it will provide a maximum of $50. per High School team travelling to the finals. This would be in the form of a donation to the local Men's Curling Club sponsoring the team. The Board would not release a teacher from teaching duties to act as coach or chaperon nor pay any expenses other than the $50. In the event that a local High School Team proceeds beyond the Zone 4 finals, the Board would make a further donation of $100 to the Men's Club sponsoring the team. This would be the full financial support of The Lake Superior Board. Further it would be emphasized that School Boy Curling is the sole responsi bility of the Men's Curl- ing Club sponsoring the teams. The Board would ac- cept no responsibility beyordthe cash donation .-The Board would support the High School N.S.S.5.A.A. mixed bonspiel annually as for any other school sport | The following recommendations regarding snowmo- biling were approved: Cont'd next column... Reeve Cavanaugh welcomed the delegation, and suggested one of their members be appointed spoke=- sman for the group, after which questions concerned be answered and suggestions taken for discussion. The group agreed with Council that some drivers were using their machines in a hazardous fashion and that definite controls were in order. They also agreed that some form of legislation should be enforced, in conjunction with the Highway Traffic Act. One very good. suggestion was that snow machines should be issued with a number, easily seen by day and night, so that they could be identified. The violators could be caught and convicted and those who are using their machines in a safe manner would not suffer for the acts of a few unthinking and unsafe operators... In-regular session, correspondence included a letter to D. Gunter, President of the Royal C anad- ian Legion, Branch 223, advising him that a by-law will be prepared for consideration of Council est- ablishin an institutional area. An inquiry was made to Hacquail Construction Company for an estimate of road maintenance repa- Irs. The Terrace Bay Ski Club asked Council to consi- der banning snow machines from the Ski hill area.
