Portraiture of Sundridge
Children of Sundridge

This is a picture of the children of the Parkes family. In the back and on the left is Jim Parkes and beside him is Joe Parkes. Standing on the chair is Marjorie Parkes and sitting in a chair is Hazel Parkes.

Picture of an unknown girl holding a book. The interesting thing is that the original copy of this photograph is a tin-type. This type of image was exposed on an emulsion cover piece of tin with no negative created.

Another pair of sisters from Sundridge. These are Millie and Gwen Knoll. Millie is standing and Gwen is seated on a chair on an ottoman.

This is a portrait of Millie Knolls. She's sitting on a box while sitting in a wicker chair. She seems to be wearing a medallion that's bigger than it should be for someone of her age. Perhaps it belongs to her mother.

What was it with this time that allowed children to stand on the furniture? This is a portrait of the young Rita Woods. She's standing on a wicker chair and wearing a black dress. This picture would have been paid for by her parents or another relative, to capture this moment of her life.

An early picture of a boy from Sundridge named Herb Quirt.

This girl is Lily Faulkner. She's wearing her Sunday School best. She is also holding a cane. This picture may have been taken at her family's photo studio. Later in her life she was an organist at a Sundridge church.

Before we leave the portraiture of children in Sundridge we will stop by two children on the side of the road. These children are unidentified and seem to be very happy.
