The main lumber camp in the mid to late 1920s was 10.5 miles from the sawmill. Because of this the company built a railroad to the camp. The cutting occurred in the East end of Laurier Township, with the cutting of hardwood beginning in 1924. The area logged in a year was about 1200 acres. This created an average of 3000 board feet of lumber per acre. A variety of images showing the company railroad are shown to the right.
