I have this original photo as my grandmother was a Hanson , from left to right Katie, brother Bill ,sister Margret, father John , sister Mable Hanson m my grandmother was Margret , Katie was won of the original school teachers in the area , she passed on early , her brother Bill and Mabel never married and stayed on at the farm until they passed on in the early 70s,. Margret moved to Tornto and married Bert Ivens . We started to use the old farm in the early 70s for snowmobiling on weekends , then my parents Don and Jean moved to SouthRiver and lived in the old farm , dad ran a Tv and satellite company from the farm and also made maple syrup , Jean stills lives in the old farmhouse , i live on Eagle Lake and recently am raising pigs on the old farm . John Hanson was one of the original settlers in the area in 1884 , after he got here he summoned his brotherinlaw , Sam Scarlet to move from Montreal to Southriver and they settled on the lot next to the Hanson Homestead , I see that you mentioned Henry O Boorse as one of the earliest settlers in Southriver , his sister Catherine married John Hanson in 1888 she would of been my great grandmother , she passed on in 1910 Doug Ivens
