J By Kerry Lynn Thompson Grade 1 Russell Public School Swimming Pool '76 Summary The Russell Centennial Swim- ming Pool has completed a very successful swimming season. A letter of apology was received by the Chairman, from the Red Cross Water Safety Society regarding cancellation and date changing of examiners. It was felt that the letter should be published as a formal apology to the parents and children who were inconvenienced by these happenings. Thank You's To our very capable staff: Supervisor: Andra Jamieson Instructors: Brian Little and Ingrid Vanderlinden Leaders: Deana Salt and Michel Ruest Maintenance: MaryAnne Bols Congratulations for a job well done. To the Russell Lions Club for their support of our Swim Team and to the many people who helped drive the kids to the swim meets. To Mrs. Joan Cousens for taking time from her busy schedule to teach some sycroniz- ed swimming, which many people will remember watching at our family day party. Finally to every other person who helped make the pool season a success. A special thanks goes out to Chairman, Roger Ruest who spent many hours keeping things running smoothly. The many hours I can testify to. He also will be surprised to see his name in print. In closing, I wish to invite anyone interested in serving on the Pool Committee for next season to call 445-5409 for information, in the meantime -- remember to "KEEP IN THE SWIM"'. Carole August 25, 1976 Dear Mr. Roger Ruest: I would like to apologize on behalf of the Red Cross Water Safety Service to yourself, your pool staff and particularily to the children and parents within the Russell Community Pool Pro- gram for any inconvience that may have been caused as a result of the numerous changes of the exam date. I realize that such changes leave many children disappointed and their parents frustrated. The society depends upon qualified volunteers to conduct examinations. Although it rarely happens, sometimes a volunteer does not live up to their commitment, as was the case, and consequently, the whole program, as well as the society's image, suffers. However, despite drawbacks, the strength of the Red Cross Water Safety Service lies in its volunteers. Once again, I would like to say that I an sorry for any incon- venience that resulted from the confusion over exam dates, and I not only hope but will make sure that this does not occur in the future. Yours sincerely, Jonathan Rothschild, Summer Area Supervisor, Water Safety Service. Hydro Increases Rates Due to the increase in operat- ing expenses and capital expend- itures forecast for the year 1977, Russell Hydro Electric System find it necessary to increase its rates for its operation and the provision of service to its customers. I also advise you to the best of our knowledge the estimates of operating expenses and capital expenditures for 1977 conform to the intent of both Federal and Provincial anti-inflation guide lines.
