Lyndhurst 1 at .- ST. JOHN'S A C.W. - Leeds Rear St. John's A.C.w. held their annual Christmas meeting at the home of Mrs. Ruthanna Glover. Following a brief business session, refreshments were served and a good time enjoyed by all. The Quilt was won by Mrs. Dorothy Berry of Ottawa. A farewell gift of a hand-painted china plate was presented to the Rector's wife - Mrs. Meg. Bugler. St. John's parish will miss the Rev. and Mrs. Bugler very much, and wish them well in their new appointment. At a service of Morning Prayer at St. Johns on Dec. 16, thirty Pew Bibles were dedicated. These bibles were donated by members in memory of loved ones. A red dossal curtain, donated by Mrs. Marilyn Laming Jeffs was dedicated in memory of Mr. David Laming. The January meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Winnie Bryan in Gananoque. Memberships were renewed and a summary-report for 1979 was given by the treasurer. St. John's A.C.W. has now established a Music Fund for the choir which will ‘be used to purchase music for future use. Donations would be appreciated. We look forward to this New Year - being the 130th anniversary of the founding of St. Johns, Leeds, and we extend a very warm welcome to our new Rector - Father Don Baile and his wife Elaine LYNDHURST U .C .W . Mrs. Audrey Welch read a humerous article "Children remain a mystery to Mom" . The meeting was adjourned Followed by a delicious lunch served by Ruth Galway and Audrey Welch . Proceeds from the Pingo's, dances and banquets, were used for expenses and various communâ€" ity projects, i.e. $500.00 to sponsor the ball team, $800.00 to St. Vincent de Paul Hospital, $100.00 to the Santa Claus Parade, $30.00 to the Public School Essay 5. Poem competition. The Lyndhurst Legion has hospital beds and wheelchairs available to the community.
