The business meeting was page 9 PHILIPsVILLE WOMEN"S INSTITUTE BEVERLY SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB On Oct. 11th the Philipsville W.I. held their meeting the form Of a family night meeting. The meeting opened with the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. The only business dealt with was the November meeting will be held on Nov. lst and not the 9th. It will be held in the hall at 1:30 p.m. ‘This being family night, each member bought a prize for bingo. A penny auction was held with Mrs. Hayes as auctioneer. A good sum was raised. The Women's Institute is holding euchres every Wednesday night except Halloween night. DELTA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE The first session of the Delta W.I. after the summer recess was held at the home of Mrs. Eva Dougall with Mrs. Talbot as co-hostess on Sept. 18th. Nine members were present and answered roll call with accounts of interesting places they had visited this summer. The main ones were the trip to the Erland Leed Home and to Niagara Falls, a trip to Washington and a cruise of the Rideau Lakes. The motto on the subject of fear, a force which can only be controlled when understood, was discussed. Mrs. Mar- jorie Russell, convenor of Family & Consumer Affairs, read a paper con- cerning fear and its meaning, and how to deal with it. The regular monthly bus trip to Brock- ville was postponed until Friday, the 28th because of other engagements. The meeting closed with the National Anthem and refreshments. The surprise package was won by Mrs. Leora Raison. Mrs. Marjorie Russell moved that a hearty vote of thanks be given to the hostesses. The regular monthly meeting of the Beverly Senior Citizens Club was held in the Legion Hall on Friday 19th with the pres- ident Mrs. Talbot presiding. The meeting was Opened by sing- ing the National Anthem and a memorial service for Mr. Freeman was observed by a minâ€" utes silence and suitable verses read by Vera Sheridan. The Roll Call was answered by twenty members and the readâ€" ing of the minutes and finan- cial statement was given by the Secretaryâ€"Treasurer Diane Kirbyo The date for the Chris- tmas meeting and dinner catered by the Legion Auxiliary to be on December 14th and the Christmas bus trip to Kingston the first Thursday in December hopefully. A memorial wreath is to be placed at the Cenotaph on November 11th and the bowlers will journey to Elgin Monday afternoons. Arrangements were made for a sale of tickets for a draw on an embroidered framed picture and the November meeting will take the form of a pot-luck luncheon and a sale of crafts on November 16th. Mrs. Bryan gave a detailed report of the Clubs visit to the Newboro Branch recently when eighteen members attended and thoroughly enjoyed the evening and entertainment provided for them.
