LYNDHURST U.C.W. The May meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Ruth Galway. The president opened the meeting With a Poem "Grandchildren", and welcomed everyone present. Marion Warren was in charge of the Devotional referring to Mothers. The first part of hymn #394 was sung followed by the Lord's Prayer. Mary Townsend read the scripture â€" Proverbs 312 The last two verses of hymn #394 were sung and the devotional was closed with'prayer. The offering was received and dedicated and the roll call was answered by 16 members. The minutes were read and approved and the treasurcr's report given. A thank-you note and a ' donation were received from the family of the late Burton Covey. Helen Morehead gave a report on the Lanse meeting. There will be a white elephant table and bake sale by the three U.C.W.'s to be held in front of Jetty hcPherson's at Seeley's Bay at 3:50 on hay 18th. Life membership pins werepresented to Elsie Maine from Hazel Gilfillen and to Flora Slack from Marion Warren. It was moved by Ruth Galway and seconded by fiarie Collins that the business portion of the meeting be closed, folIOWed by benediction. Mary Townsend read a poem - "The Meanest Mother in the World." Our guest speaker was hrs. Harry Morris. The topic was how to run a home for adolescent children. HISTORICAL NOTE A lovely lunch was served by Iva u n Street and Audrey iielch. Vienna Kelsey Kingston Road thanked faith for o’pening her home and In November,1829 the road was comâ€" “ha-nked everyone “ho helped" pleted which ran from Furnace Falls (Lyndhurst) to Kingston Mills. It was built by 15 men under the supervision of Abel Stevens of Bastard Township.To build the road they had to causeway fifteen streams.Previous to the building of this road,travellers fol- lowed blazed trails and streams had to be forded.
