MON- SAT 9'6 Evenings by appointment only STORE HOURS reviewed by Nike Dent On April 27th and 28th, audiences of 300 or more were possibly more surprised than the cast at the quality of their production of "Charley's Aunt" by Brandon Thomas. The cast (which has no name!) comprised mainly local talent, an exception being director Lee Horner (the Kingston half of Vogelzang & Horner Insurance), and _ was formed from an embryo of Sweet's Corners School Paren 3' Committee, with Linda Kenney claiming and deserving most“ of the credit as producer of the play. The school was the setting for the performances and rehearsals, and received the proceeds from the play, approximately $600, to be used for facilities for the children. ‘ The three male leads were played with equal gusto and competence by Tim Walsh (Kingstong, John Green and Bob Ashton (in drag , with strong Support from Joe Kenney and Mollie Callaghan \Charley's real Aunt). Opposite the leads, Susan Dent and Sharon Hurrell played twittering debutantes, bullied by their bombastic uncle, played with conviction by Peter Vogelzang. Ron Callaghan was the bumbling butler, and Karen Simpson a love-sick maiden, accompanying Donna Lucia d'Alvadorez. : As I said earlier, the acting was of a uniform high standard with full use being made of the stage and sets, and the audience was very responsive to the comedy once they had adjusted to the 19th century Oxford Slang. The cast received a standing ovation on ,the Saturday night. Deserving of credit behiui the scenes were Mary Dean (props) and June Greenhorn !(makeâ€"up) - with costume and make-up 3assistance by Cheryl Berry and Elsa ‘Scheitrowsky. June Greenhorn was hiâ€" jacked from the Lakeland Players. Deserving credit Egg the scenes were Ken Fieldhouse, Kirk Brooks and friends .(set construction and Hans Koopman and ;friends (painting both groups can be proud of their work. Girls Friday were .Andrea Fieldhouse and Doreen Regan. The cast and crew would welcome suggâ€" estions for a name, and are presently considering a program for next fall - interested persons can contact Susan Dent - 359-5639 or Linda Kenney 359-5500- - ‘ A suggested work is a stage version of the movie "The Boys from Brazil" (Where the nuts come_from!)
