Elgin Friendship Club On Wednesday, Feb. 28th. the Elgin Friendship Club hosted the Senior Citizens of the surrounding area, includ- ing Newboro, Chaffey's Locks, Portland, Delta and Lyndhurst. This event was in honour of Mrs. Lavinia Hamilton of Bloom- field who was visiting her daughter and son-in-law at the Stage Coach Inn in Newboro. The meeting opened with O Canada, played by Mrs vera Sheridan, Delta. Prayer was offered by Rev. Harry Seeley, who, with Elgin President Phonse Donovan, welcomed the guests. Mr. Seeley then introduced Mrs. Hamilton. She is the Corresponding Secretary for the Provincial Executive of the Senior Citizens of Ontario. Mrs. Hamilton gave a very inter- esting talk, explaining her duties and stressing her advice to Seniors to keep active. She said if she can be of use to any seniors' organization at any time, to just call her and she would be pleased to assist. A very pleasant social hour followed with visiting and playing games. A delicious lunch was served by the Elgin Club. A large number attended this meeting. Get on ‘er People who are Saving money and looking good. Theresa Vanderweif, President, who led the service, was assisted by representatives of each congregation. A very meaningful series of petitions for prayer was prepared and delivered by Loree Smith and Beta Freeman. The business portion of the March meeting included planning for the Membership Luncheon, May 6 and for the social hour following Confirmation, April 30. Ideas were discussed concerning celebration of a worldwide Day of Prayer for C.W.L. members slated for may 13. The Cancer Society's film on Breast Self Examination was viewed; members were reminded of the clinic to be held early in April. Kathryn Scott, playing the accordion, led a singsong of Irish favourites. An executive meeting will be held Mar29 HEART FUND CAMPAIGN SOUTH CROSBY TOWNSHIP 1979. A total of $1,061.60 was collected for the Ontario Heart Foundation.
