Our special guests for the evening will be a representative of the St. Lawrence College Preâ€" school Education program, our 3 area kindergarten teachers and our own teacher, Hrs. Heather Green. Each of these ladies will describe her program. The meeting will take place at 8 p.m. in the nursery school in Elgin. Twentyâ€"eight contestants participated from 5 area elementary schools - Beverly Elementary, Delta, South Crosby School, Elgin, Rideau Centennial, Portland, Rideau Vista, Westport, and St. Edwards, Westport. First place winners received $20.00, a small trophy, plus a RCL Certificate - Second place winners received $15.00 and a Certificate, Third Place winners received $10.00 and a certificate, all other entries received a certificate. A social half hour was held at the close of the evening with coffee and sandwiches supplied by the branch ladies. The branch would like to thank all those who helped to make the evenâ€" ing a success, namely, our own hard working Public Speaking Chairman, Comrade John Greenhorn, the pupils, teachers and principals of the schools participating, as without their support the Legion Public Speaking Contest would not be held.
