Due to a week of inclement weather the entries were down from the previous year. But, those who did enter were rewarded with good catches. This year there were 15 trout entered over 4 lbs compared to only 3 last year. The winners were: Largest Trout by weight - Prize $40.00 cash: Don Pyne - 9 1b 13%oz. Second Largest Trout â€" Prize 830.00 cash - Bill Thompson - 8 lb 9% oz Third largest trout Dennis White - 8 lb 602 Largest Ling - Prize - Beverley Reel - Garry Hanna - 7 lb 6 oz â€" Prize $20.00 cash - Second Ling - Prize â€" Jigging Rod - Don Carr - 5 1b 2 3/402 Gross weight - 3 trout â€" Prize $30.00 cash Don Pyne - 15 lb 5 oz. 10 Consolation Prizes of $10.00 each were awarded to - Lawrence Flynn, Michael Patemaster, Dave Hurlbutt, Jim Pollock, Louise Oliver, Don Hogan, Aeron Mowers, Bob Hudson, Len Pyne and John Mulligan. The branch would like to thank all those who helped to make it a success, especially the members and ladies who served the meal, the merchants who gave of their time and merchandise for prizes, i.eo Canadian Tire Store, Smiths Falls, Bayview Yacht Harbout Marina, Portland, Chet Good, Portland, Frank Bauer, Crosby, and Lewis Burtch, Newboro, who donated the minnows. 6‘. 6'. The Presâ€" ident, Betty James, opened the meeting with prayer and wel- comed the members and guests. The devotional was given by Mrs. Joan Ross and Ruth Hull. They chose "Religion" as their theme. The minutes of the pre- vious meeting were read by the secretary, Clara Hull, and were approved. The President thanked those who took part in the World Day of Prayer service, and anyone who helped in any way at the Fish Fry. The treasurer gave her report which showed that the Fish Fry was a great success. Fifteen members answered the Roll Call. Joan Avery will be in charge of purchasing the Easter flowers for the Church. The catering price list was revised as expenses have increased. Following the business meeting, Winona Barker displayed rug hooking done by some memâ€" bers of Rideau Crafts, and some needle point pictures and wall hangings she had done herself. Several members thought they would like to take the course that is being offered by Rideau Crafts. Clara Hull displayed some of the china she had painted. The speaker for the even- ing was Chris Landon of the local Cancer Society. She showed a film on breast self- examination and reminded us of the clinics to be held in April at the Newboro and Portland Medical Centres. The hostess, assisted by Zelma Grummett and Margaret Stinson served refreshments.
