PAUL'S A.c_.y. â€" DELTA The first ACW meeting of the year was held at Mrs. Florence Malony's home. Mrs. Joyce Frye opened the meeting with the Invocation from "Reflections" in "The Living Message". The theme was "These Little Ones". Mrs. Mollie Ussher read the Scripture which was St. Mark's story of Jesus rebuking the disciples for trying to send the children away, and how he had taken them in his arms and blessed them. The Meditation which was read by Mrs. Marjorie Curtis and Mrs. Florence Malony told of organizations which were concerned for children all over the world, and of some of the changes in Ontario's laws to try and protect the rights of children. DELTA LEGION LADIES' AUXILIARY BRANCH f 202. The women met with the Legion members for the opening ceremonies and then separated for the business portion of their meetings. President Tilford expressed her thanks toall those who assisted in the various Christ~ mas and New Years’ events. Roll Call was answered by 15 members and the minutes were read by the secretary. Marjorie There is to be a Fun Day on Sat. Feb. 3rd at l p.m. A Social Evening is to be held each week at 7 p.m. and wild be open to the public. There will be a Fish Fry for the public on Jan. 27th. at hz30 in the Legion Hall. Postage money was allocated to Comrades Halladay and Bryan. Thanks were expressed to Comrade Sawyer and his wife for excell- ent catering work at holiday time. The Legion then joined the Women's Auxiliary for the closing and the Queen. The next meeting will be on February 12, at 7:30. DELTA UNITED CHURCH WOMEN __â€"___â€"___â€"â€"-â€"â€"â€"â€"â€"â€"â€"â€"â€". On January 10, 1979, Presi- dent French welcomed nine members to a meeting held in the Church basement. She Read a poem on Friendship and New Years. Mrs. Marlene Richardson con- ducted the Devotional. This was opened with a hymn. Then she read an item on faith, using the visual picture of leaves under the snow during the long winter. The Scrip- ture reading was from Romans 8. This was followed by introduction of copies and group singing of Bal- lad of United Church Women, which was well received. The offering was then received. President French encouraged members to try to interest friends in The United Church Women. A poem of sympathy to the Richardson and Burns families was read. Roll call was taken. It was decided to give a burâ€" sary to each â€" Miss J. Crump and Mrs. K. Woods - for assistance in theological studies. On March 2 The World Day of Prayer is to be held at 2.30 p.m. in our Church. Visitors are enâ€" couraged. Mrs. Richardson assisted by Mrs. French and Mrs. Irma Chant. Summary of the"Day of Baking Bread Spotlight" coming up at Athens on February 15. Prayer Service For Unity is to be held on January 31 at 8 p.m. at the United Church. Everyone welcome. Fellowship to follow.
