Wayne Ferri,assisted by Carol Stanyar and Jeanette McNally,has 14 Cubs in his pack.Their varied program includes leather work and making very handsome bird feeders. Nine boys,llâ€"l3 years,are enjoying Maurice Shillington's Troop.They're planning a horse drawn sleigh ride,toboganning and trout fishing, and welcome more boys to join in the fun. Scouting events this fall.inâ€" cluded Apple Day,the Santa Claus Parade and a Christmas Party. A winter carnival is planned for the weekend of Feb.16,l7 & 18. A new executive has taken up the reins for l979.Bob Polâ€" lard has succeeded Ansley Green as Snowmobile Club President, with Mrs. Ella Laidlaw as Secâ€" retary and Joe Kirkpatrick as Treasurer. On Fri. evening,Feb.16,the Club has rented ice time at the Community Centre and there will be free skating for everyone from 7â€"9 pm.A trail ride for snowmobilers will leave from the field adjacent the Community Centre. On Sat.,the 17th, events will include: toboggan races, ice-sculpturing,obstacle races, nail driving,log sawing,barâ€" rel races,ice fishing and a Flea Market in St. Ed's Audiâ€" torium.There are tentative plans to hold motorcycle race on the lake. Saturday's festivities will wind up with a Carnival Dance at Rideau Vista Schoolâ€" advance tickets only. Snow sculptures will be judged Sunday afternoon.A snowâ€" mobile Bingo Rally will be held. The weekend will draw to a close with a Carnival Supper at Rideau Vista School. NORTH CROSBY RECEIVES GRANTS Dr. Mendel McEwen, Chairman of the North Crosby Recreation Committee has announced that a total of $16,000 has been made available to the Township from Wintario and Community Centre Crants.This will make it posâ€" sible to go ahead with plans for the new park and recreation centre just south of the Perth Rd.,about 1.5 miles west of the Village of Westport. Future plans for the park include a combined township office and recreation hall, tennis courts and picnic facâ€" ilities.As soon as levelling can be carried out on the propâ€" erty,a new ball diamond will be laid out. The Committee has already raised $1,000 toward the centre. Future fund raising projects include: a ski-aâ€"thon,a skateâ€" aâ€"thon,and a flyâ€"aâ€"thon by the local model airplane club.A bottle drive is also being conâ€" sidered.
