P§T§§}S A,C,W, - Seeley's Bay Mrs. Elsie Willoughby was our president for the March meeting at her home. Members present were 9. Father Bailey opened the meeting with the member's prayer. We dispensed with the usual opening from the Living Message. The Meditation had dealt with the importance of the heart as a part of the body both physically and spiritually. The marvellous process of transplants is giving longer life to many people. The expressions - "my heart tells me", "my heart bleeds for you" and "my heart's afire" are very meaningful. The minutes of the Feb. meeting were approved as read. The treasurer gave her report and we were happy to have received a goodly amount from our pancake supper and card party at the Legion Hall on Shrove Tues. We welcomed heartily those who came from St. John's, St. Luke's and other churches. This report was seconded by Charlotte MbConnell. Correspondence was read and discussed. St. Peter's Church was to be prepared for the "World Day of Prayer" which was held on March 7th. A luncheon was planned to follow the service and Father Bailey agreed to be guest speaker. We looked at a catalogue of designs and priest's vestments for the church but nothing definite was decided. Eight young members are interested in being "servers" and need gowns. Mrs. Dorothy Davies has generously offered to be seamstress and the A.C.W. will help if needed. We have decided on a Dinner Dance (and cards) to be held at the Legion Hall on Friday, April 18th beginning at p.m. 0 Father Bailey informed us of a General Synod to be held at Peterborough June 19-24. The theme will be "We being many are one body in Christ." The Venerable R.K. McKeen would be guest speaker. They would like banners sent from different parishes. There is also a Deanery Festival of Synod - Whit Sunday, May 25th - 7:50 p.m. at Trinity Church, Brockville. There they would also like banners or displays from each church in our area. We will see what we can do to represent St. Peter's. Delicious cakes, tea and coffee were served previous to the meeting. Marjorie Bradley thanked the hostess and lunch committee. June Goodwins adjourned the meeting. Several priests, Father Bailey's family and friends from Oshawa, and a good area congregation were present for his induction, Sunday, March 9th. Bishop Hill came to perform his duties and a social hour and pot-luck supper was held in the hall following the service. WW OLIVET U.C.W. On March 5th, Olivet U.C.W. met at the home of Mrs. Stuart Mainse at 2:00 p .m. The Acting President - Mrs. Fred Bracken opened the meeting with a warm greeting to 18 members and 1 visitor. Mrs. Freda Moulton conducted the Worship Service enlarging on her tOpic - "Spreading the Gospel". Scriptures from Obadiah and Micah were read and hymns No. 496 and 41 were sung. The closing Prayer included repeated statements by several members emphasizing the true meaning of the Worship Service. Mrs. Mollie Callaghan; then, using material previously contributed on the "Year of the Child" led an open dis- cussion which prompted many good ideas and opinions dealing with the subject. Nfinutes of last meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer's report and Correspondence followed. New Business included plans to donate a finished quilt to a disaster family and to work on another quilt at the home of Mrs. Millie McFadden, as well as those available to meet at Mollie Callaghan's to cut out patterns etc in preparation for the August Bazaar. A short report on the Annual Presbyterial held in Brockville Mar.4 was given by Mrs. Moulton. The President reminded everyone of the World Day of Prayer Service to be held in St. Peter's Church, Seeley's Bay. Following adjournment - contributions of food, plants, crafts etc. were auctioned by Mrs. Stuart Mainse. Lunch and social time brought a pleasant and enlightening afternoon to a close. The April meeting of Olivet U.C.W. will be held at the home of Mrs. John Moroughan. “ EASTER SPECIALâ€"PERMS - -$15 " Mutants, Mam: mm“! a‘W‘T‘ -;‘ _‘.
