Mrs. Irma Chant opened the worship service with a scripture reading about love. All sang Hymn 362 which was followed by all reading in unison The Ten Commandments. There was then a fine reading on Thou Shalt Love, followed by prayer. Collection was taken by Mrs. Leora Raison, dedicated by Mrs. Chant. Roll Call was answered by nine members with Mrs, Gail Burtch and son as visitors. Mrs. Hilda Cardiff read the minutes. The World Day of Prayer is to be held at 2:30 on March 7th at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Delta. Presbetery is to be on March 4th at Wall Street Church, Brockville. Treasurer Irma Chant read the financial report. A letter was read from the Cancer Society concerning a meeting on March 11. Mrs. Bryan has been asked to represent this group at that meeting. A letter of thanks for our donation was read from the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Concern. President French expressed thanks of all members to Mrs. Richardson for making up the yearly programmes and to Mrs. Bryan for the newspaper reports. Mrs. Diane Kirby presented a fine programme on Valentine history and storyo This was followed by a reading â€" Love. The next meeting will be on 12 March at 1:30 p.m. at Mrs. Wiltse's. Delicious dessert was served by Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Chant. Mrs. Bryan expressed thanks of all for the splendid meeting, to the hostess and those who contributed. The Royal Canadian Legion The February meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 20?, Delta was opened by the members being joined by the Legion members with the singing of Oh Canada. President Lorna Pearson then opened the Ladies Auxiliary meet- ing with a gracious welcome. Roll call was answered by 10 members. Comrade Sally Halladay then read the minutes. The treasurer's report was read by Comrade Jane Breedyk. Thank you card from Cmd. E. Vollick was read. Also a fine letter was read from Mrs. Loverock. Cmd. A. Doxee read a letter concerning bowling. Anyone interested is to get in touch with her. A sports fun day is to be held in Kingston on March 29th. Registration is to be by March 10th. Contact A. Doxee if interested. Plans were made for the cat- ering of a dinner on February 16. The meeting was brought to a close. A social hour with the Legion was enjoyed. BEVERLEY SENIOR CITIZENS Each person arriving at the Delta Legion Hall on February 15 for the meeting was given a valentine to wear. President Audrey Talbot welcomed the members and guests. All sang O Canada, accompanied by Mrs. Hazel McCready on the piano. Plans were made to accept the invitation to Elgin on March 12‘ afternoon. Mr. Gifford spoke of the New Horizons Work Shop. In the history given it was recalled that there were 30 members in 1971, nine deceased since 1970. Minutes of the first meetings were then read by some of the original members: Mr. L. Irwin, Mr. G. Harrington, Mrs. L. Russell, Mrs. A. Talbot, Mrs. M. McElroy. Regret was expressed that first president Mrs. Edna Dean, Lyn, could not be present. There are now 40 members. DELTA ATHLETIC & RECREATIONAL SOCIETY Election of officers for the Society took place on Jan. 16th with Bill Wright elected President, Pat Phillips, Vice-president, Betty Wright, Secret- ary and Helena Phillips, treasurer. Betty Wright is chairperson of the Finance Committee and Cork Phillips heads the Building Committee. All paving, lighting and fencing are completed on the outdoor rink with canteen, washrooms, dressing rooms and brick work finished on the rink house. On Feb. 2 a carnival was planned featuring a chili supper and CJET No Stars vs Delta Old Timers in the evening. Prizes for costumes, oldest, youngest skater, races for old and young are to be held. A Valentine's Dance was held on Feb. 16th at Delta Beverly Elementary School featuring "Three's Country".
