Members of the Lyndhurst and Olivet U.C.W.'s were guests at the October meeting of the Seeley's Bay u.c.w. held in the C.E. Room at 8 p.m. on October 7, 1980. All guests and members received a warm welcome from the hostess, Freda Davies. The devotional theme was "Thankfulness - a Habit". Gladys Webb, who conducted the devotions stressed the fact we should not wait until Thanks- giving to bless and thank our God for his great blessings. A brief business meeting was conducted by the president, Hilda Simpson. It was agreed that we cater to a twenty-fifth anniversary in December. The offering was taken and dedicated. Lyndhurst announced their tea and sale being held .on November 1. ” Mabel Cameron moved the business meeting be adjourned. For the program Mrs. Quammie Spoke about her home- land, Haiti, and Jamaica and showed slides. She asked that people visiting these countries take time to understand the ‘ living conditions before pass- ing judgement since we can have no idea of what it is like to live under their political setup and financial conditions. Later she answered questions about life on the islands. Lunch was served by Mabel Cameron, Freda Davies and Myrtle Simpson and the ladies enjoyed an hour of fellowship. for COUNCIL Rear of Leeds & Lansdbwne 13;; Q> ’ At their regular meeting on Monday, Octoâ€" ber 20th, 1980, a new slate of officers was installed. The Installing Officer was Mrs. Hazel Gardiner, a Past Matron and Charter Member of Rideau Chapter. The Installing Marshal was Mrs. Freda Moulton, also a Past Matron and Charter Member of Rideau Chapter. are extended to these two ladies on the excellent way they performed their duties. Each knew their work perfectly and were an inspiration to all present. assisted by several Past Matrons and Past Patrons of Rideau Chapter. Mr. Manford MacPherson, a Past Patron, gave the Obligation to the newly elected and appointed officers. This he did in his usual high degree of excellence. During the installation ceremonies, Mrs. Iva Sweet acted as organist and Mrs. Evelyn Sleeth was soloist. As our newly elected Worthy Matron was escorted to her chair, the soloist sang "One Day at a Time". LVNPHUEST Congratulations They were Cora Hafleelme; ESLML-usmeq PIQRS Rideau Chapter was instituted on August 28, 1946, and our first Worthy 'Matron was the late Mrs. Ruth (Douglas) {Moore of Seeleys Bay. She was later =made a Life Member, as was Mrs. Mary '(Arnold) Davies. Many members have ser- ved as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron over the years and we can boast of one Past District Deputy Grand Matron, Mrs. Mary Davies, of whom we are very proud. Rideau Chapter has a membership of 112 and covers a large territory. ‘There are members from Battersea, ‘Inverary, Sunbury, Kingston, Lyndhurst, Gananoque and Seeleys Bay. We have just completed a successful year under the leadership of Mrs. Marion Warren and Mr. Clifford Dixon and look forward to a similar year with our new slate of officers. At the close of the meeting, a delicious lunch, under the convenership of Mrs. Hilda Simpson, was enjoyed by all present.
