A card of thanks was read from the Forfar Community for the public plantâ€" ing done there. An invitation was read from the Col- lin's Bay Society to attend a Pot Luck Supper on Nov. 3rd. Reports and suggestions were given con- cerning our Fall Show. Mrs. Olive Shire donated two books to our library â€" "Romance in the Garden" and "Terrific Tomatoes". Hrs. Bonwill suggested that we would find "This Sculptured Earth" and "Small is Beautiful" full of useful and interesting suggestions. It was decided to order several cop- ies of the "Snippy Tip" books We were very sorry to hear of Mr. Pritchard's very unfortunate accident. A card was signed and sent to him. The sum of $26.30 was realized from our plant swap. Door prizes were disâ€" tributed. Our regular Nov. meeting will be held on Nov. 4, 7:U5 p.m. in Newboro. The meeting was called to order by the president with the reading of our day's motto "Do not focus on your faults and 'short-comings. Be gentle with yourself, and let happiness and energy back into your life". The roll call was "what constitutes an ideal home". This brought out many fine thoughts - love, sharing, understanding, communication, willingness to compromise or agree to disagree. Hazel Jarrett read a poem of Edgar Guest entitled "Home". The minutes and correspondence were dealt with and Glenna Langlois gave our treasurer's report. All were pleased to hear there is only $3,000 left to pay on our new kitchen. Laurel Fleming re- ported on our Village Book which we plan to have printed in time for our 150th Canal Anniversary. Not quite half of the necessary money has been pledged. Discussion on ideas for the 1982 sum- mer celebration of the opening of the Lockmaster's House has begun. We are looking into the possibility of sponsoring a 4â€"H Club. An announcement was made concerning a trip by bus to Montreal sponsored by Rideau Crafts. Those interested are asked to contact Ellen Bonwill. Two new members were reported. Tentative plans were made for our Gourmet table at the Rideau Crafts Christ mas Market. Cathy Vietch gave a detailed report on the wine and cheese party. Cards were signed by all 18 present for two shutâ€"ins. Kathryn Scott gave a warm vote of thanks for all contributing to our meeting.
