This exhibit offers a unique opportunity to study the patterns and textures of early Canadian spinning and weaving. Contemporary weavers will enjoy being able to examine the textiles closely and compare them with samples of their own work. Scottish, French, German and American weaving traditions are all represented in a colourful array of textile remnants. This display includes samples from carpets, cover- lets, petticoats, horse blankets, tea towels, ticking, shawls and sheets. This Canadian Handweaving exhibit is currently on loan to the Eastern Ontario Library System from the Royal Ontario Museum for a tour of Eastern Ontario public libraries. All are invited to see the exhibit this month while it is at the Elgin branch of the Rideau Lakes Union Public Library. For further information contact: Pat Little at 359-5315. Rideau lakes Union LIBRARY Summer is the busiest time in our 6 libraries and we have seen many of our summer residents return and many new members join our system. It is most rewarding to hear the compliâ€" ments given to Our small yet effiâ€" cient libraries. Both the board members who serve and the Councils who support our Union Libraries must be pleased that this service, now entering its fifth year of operation, has been so well received. The growth, in both the number of users and the amount of material available has been phenomenal. The month of September brings our class visits back in the Elgin branch and once again we will try and arrange some type of service to the other schools We would remind teachers and students alike that we offer reference and research services. A telephone call to their branch librarian or to my office in Elgin (359-5315) can set the required programme into motion. High school students are also welcome to either visit the Elgin branch for assistance and/or material related to their studies. We have a fine collection of Canadian materâ€" ials covering Can lit, history, sociology, law, art, etc. If you don't use your library, ask yourself why?â€"-because it is your library _ if we don't Offer the Mr. Paul Yurkowsky welcomes all service you need, tell us _ Your tax enquiries re mobile homes and dollar pays for your library _ we hopes all users of the laundromat try to serve Egg â€" that's our mandate. and CérwaSh W111 Flnd tbe I facilities to their satisfaction.
