i l I . r l 5 l SEELEYS BAY FIRE DEPARTMENT Hundreds of area residents and friends were on hand recently to participate in the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Seeley's Bay Vol- unteer Fire Department. The weekend's festivities began on Saturday, July 5, with a parade through the village streets which featured fire department from neighâ€" bouring areas with their new and antique fireâ€"fighting equipment, floats and bands. Celebrations continued in the Centennial Park in the afternoon with pipe band and Scottish Dance performâ€" ances, country and western music performances by local artists, a greased pig competition, and water ball games. Among the teams in- volved in the water ball competition were people from Nova Scotia, Pennâ€" sylvania and a girls' team from Seeley's Bay. Later in the afternoon, horse drawing competitions captivated the intereSt of a large crowd. A dance was held in the Legion Hall during the evening. On Sunday, there was a church service held in the Park at 11:00 a.m. The Snider Family from Westport, along with other groups, perfromed, singing gospel music. The residents of Seeley's Bay and area appreciated the hard work that the men in the fire department went to in mhking‘the weekend so enjoyable. But most of all, we appreciate the on-going service that they provide for us as a fire department. So, for thirty years of excellent fire protection, we express our sincere thanks and appreciation. Our two bake sales on the church lawn have been very suc- cessful. Our next one will be Wed. Aug. 6 at 1 o‘clock. During the absence of Fr. Don Bailey and Elaine, we have really enjoyed the supply minis- ters â€" Fr. Brandon from Westport, Canon Hutchinson from Brockville, and Father Gilbert from Lyn. Many people are on holidays so the attendance has dwindled considerable.
