ST Peter’s A.C.W. Seven members and two visitors were present at the June meeting, held at the home at Mrs. Mary Dean. All ioined in the opening member's prayer and Father Don Bailey then read the introduction 0F St. Luke's gospel. The May minutes were read and the treasurer gave her report. Money was handed in For "The Year of the Child" and the "Birthday money collected" . Four members attended the annual A.C.W. at St. George's Cathedral which was well attended From all parts or the Dioceses. Rev. Michael Harper spoke at the conference . A team oF dedicated men From the Rotary Club in Gananoque did a Walk-a-Thon For crippled children on June 20th, and we are asked to make our pledge at our local bank. Darrell Dean has been asked to serve at the National Youth ConFerence at Bolton, Ontario. Delegates From all over Canada will attend. Cost at $300. each will be divided equally as transportation (as well as Food) is a big item. Donations would be a great help. Bake sales will be held on Wed. July 9th at l p.m. and Wed. Aug. 6th at l p.m. on St. Peter's Church lawn. Mary Dean read two or three poems and Mrs. Rogers gave us a splendid demon- stration on the entertainment given at Toronto airport when her plane was delayed. She also told other visits to many churches while visiting her relatives in England. The meeting closed with prayer and we were then served a good lunch. Mari Bradley moved a vote oF thanks. The Sept. meeting will be held at the home of Charlotte McConnell. SEE LEY'S, BAY U.C.W. l Seeley's Bay United Church Women held their regular meeting June 3rd in the C.E. room. 18 were welcomed by the hostess for the evening. Hilda Simpson chose her devotâ€" ional theme based on "Faith" â€" from scripture, verse, song and prayer. The regular business of the meeting was conducted by the presâ€" ident, hilda Simpson. The report of the bake sale was so gratifying that plans were made to hold two more. The first bake sale will be held on Cameron's lawn, 11:00 a.m., June 28th when Valera Hartley Freda Davies and Joyce Simpson wil. be in charge. The second bake sale - same time â€" same place â€" will be August 2nd with habel Cameron and Gladys Jebb as convenors. Questions followed with a short discussion. Lunch was served by Valera Hartâ€" ley and Vina Simpson with a happy ‘social time. No meetings are ;planned for the summer'and the épresident wished all a good thaliday. SEELEYWSBAY FHEleHflHMENT Small fires should never become big ones. Seeley's Bay Fire Department are celebrating their 50th Anniversary, Saturday July 5 and Sunday, July 6th at the Centennial Park, Seeley's Bay. On Saturday there will be a parade with Band at 12:00 p.m., folIOWed by games in the park. At 5:00 p.m. a Horse Drawing Contest will be held. A Bavarian Garden will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. On Sunday an Interdenominational Church Service at 11:00 a.m, followed by Sky Divers at 2:00 p.m. and a. Pot-Luck Supper at 4:00 p.m. . The June 4th meeting was held at the home oF Mrs. Linda Mainse, with the President, Mrs. Velma Dorman in charge oF the . Worship Service. The Theme was John 3:l6. Scripture was From Ephesians, after which a hymn was sung and a prayer brought the Worship to a closc. Acting Pres. Mrs. Ruth Antoine called on Rev. Ouammie as guest speaker, who gave a very interesting study on the religions oF Japan. The two main religions are Shintoism and Buddhism - Buddhism being Founded thousands oF years ago. Christianity is not predominant as it was not introduced into Japan until the l6th century by Roman Cd'tholic Spanish missionaries. Mrs. Amy Bracken read the minutes of the May meeting in the absence of the secretary, Mrs. Mollie Callaghan. The July meeting is planned as a Pot Luck luncheon to which the husbands are invited. This will be held at Bowden's cottage on Dog Lake on July 2nd at l2.30 p.m. Following adiournment and courtesy remarks by Miss Ruby Roantree, a lunch and social time was enjoyed by all.
