With the rare exception, any ,bird seen in July at a given place is on its nesting grounds. song and the choice of habitat, we can learn much about the character of a bird. Watching the feeding of the young birds, we can learn the type of insect or worms the birds are helping to rid our flower and vegetable gardens and shrubs of. Flower beds and the flowering shrubs will provide the Hummingbirds and the bees with natural food. The Rubythroat hummingbird is our smallest bird and a very active one, darting from flower to flower in search of sweet nectar. For protein they feed on the small insects in the flower. Bright red and orange colored flowers seem to attract these small birds. They seem to prefer tublar type flowers like the trumpet vine, honeysuckle, lilies, coral bells and many other similar species. If there are only small beds of flowers, one can buy a hummingbird feeder. There are two kinds â€" a single one or a larger one, a four feeder. The latter is colored red and is the shape of a flower. Be sure to follow the directions as to feeding instrucâ€" tions. Do not hang the feeder in direct sunlight. We have a four feeder type hanging in the lilac bush on a solid branch, fastened securely to keep the wind from bouncing it around. Recent bird sightings are as follows: a beautiful Scarlet Tanager - near haffey's Locks. The male bird is a vivid red with black wings and black tail. The female is a dull green with yellowish color stomach. Males moult in tHe fall season to the dull green. This bird is usually sighted singing in a tall tree. Four small green heron and a common bittern â€" near Christie Lake. A pair of loons with a young one (possible two weeks old). A great blue Heron - on the shore of an island on Newboro Lake. A Blue Bunting - the first I have seen for a few years. Egg Breasted Grosbeak â€" this bird is found in decidious woods and has a very beautiful song. A number of Redstarts â€" these small warblers are black with red patches on the wings and red outer tail feathers and are usually found in wood lots. A number of Cedar Waxwin s â€" seen in Newboro Park and a few have visited my cherry tree. EPAIRS REPAIRS TO ALL MAKES AND MODELS 0F WASHERS,DRYERS,REFRIGERATORS AND STOVES.
