‘"Cedarsfi Art and Craft Shop at Chaf- fey's Lock is opening its doors June 28th for its 4th season. "Cedars" is located in the summer kitchen of the old Mahoney house, and the two sisters, Marion Goulah of Kingston, and Eleanor Pinsonneault, Ottawa, are the 4th generation to live ,sin the house. The store takes its name from a pair of huge cedar hedâ€" ‘ ges in front of the house. When one approaches the old white -frame house with the summer kitchen and back porchfl laden with brightly coloured crafts, you realize that this place is far removed from all the hustle of city shopping. Once inside, there are two rooms fil- led with quality Canadian crafts en- compassing the Ottawaâ€"Kingston area. The second room, originally the wood shed, was brought into service last year for the first time as a result of the steady increase of goods and people. Cedars offers a wide variety of crafts. To name a few, there are beautiful quilts, one of a kind ladies ensembles and paintings by Eleanor Pinsonneault, handwoven bed- spreads from Quebec, stuffed dolls, including some delightful soft-sculpâ€" ture costumed ones made by Hanna Cymbinski of Richmond, brass rub- bings, expertly made pine shelves, mirrors and tables, stone ware, hand- woven coats and jackets, miniature doll houses, apple head dolls, dried and silk flower arrangements by "Wishful Thinking" of Kingston, stained glass items and attractive lamps. As an extension of "Cedars", Chaf- lfey's Lock, Marion Goulah operates "Cedars 11" in Kingston from her home at 7 Runneymede Road from Sept- ember until June, thereby keeping the crafts people very busy the whole year. This year "Cedars" will carry the work of 95 artisans and extends a most cordial welcome to all their old and new friends.
