ST. COLUMBANUS C.W.L. St. Cvlumbanus C.W.L. met May 13 at the Rectory. Out-going President, Mrs. Theresa Vanderwerf opened the meeting with the league prayer. She then turned the meeting over to the new President, Mrs. Elizabeth McNamara. Mrs. Vanderwerf was thanked for her hard work and serâ€" vice to the league by Father O'Neil. The business portion of the meeting included the minutes, treasurer's re- port and correspondence. Thea Blank- enborg reported that membership had reached 49. She will concentrate on the pro- life movement through Brockville Right To Life Communication â€" News reporter- Kathryn Scott. Phone Committee â€" Teresa Vanderwerf, Annie Gunniwick, Margaret Hamilton, Francis Lyle, Ursula Kenney Church Life â€" Joan Kenney will head the Altar Society. Numerous summer activities were disâ€" cussed. The crowning of Our Lady by the children will take place May 25 at the 10 a.m. mass. The Diocesan Convention is May 31st- June 1 in Brockville. Margaret Courneya and Liz McNamara will attend. Father O'Neil, Maureen McCarthy and Paul McNamara will also attend the Sunday night banquet. The Annual C.W.L. Luncheon will be held June 8 at Hotel Kenney, Jones Falls. Coffee will be served again after Mass on Sunday June 29 and Sun., Aug. 31 at both Philipsville and Elgin. Teresa Vanderwerf reported that the Ontario Health Care Act petitions had been well received in our fellow churâ€" ches, and were sent on to the Ministry of Health. The ladies were reminded of the need to continue to boycott Nestle products. Topics were discussed for next year's programs. The Sept. meeting will be held at the home of Laura Carty. The meeting opened with the singing of "O Canada" with Eliza Gray at the piano. Rev. May will also feature a visit to a local farm. The last day of school will find both the Junior and Senior groups and parents enjoying a party at the St.Pierre home. There will be a "graduaâ€" tion" ceremony for those children entering kindergarten in Septemâ€" ber. At the May meeting the parents committee finalized plans for registration. Due to the large number of children enrolled this year, it was decided to hold a Spring Registration (May 27) for the school year 1980 - 1981. Anyone unable to attend the registration may call Lynn Burt at 272-2384 for information or registration forms. A fall registration will be held Sepâ€"’ tember 3 for those not registerâ€" ed in May. However the spring registrants will priority if the number of children exceeds the limit allowedo If that happens, a waiting list will be established. Due to the popularity of the †cookbooks sold as a moneyâ€"raising project, an additional 100 have been ordered. A "Garage Sale" will be held Saturday, July 5 at 10:00 a.m. at E.Ja Kenney's shop in Elgin. Customers will be invited to pay what they consider a just price for the items on sale.
