DELTA u.c.w. On May luth, the spring meetâ€" ing of the Delta United Church Women was held in the home of Mrs. Laura Russell. President Nellie French opened the meeting with the reading of a poem, Some People Know, telling of the secret of being a friend. She welcomed those present. Mildred Sweet conducted the devotional serviCe on Faith with a reading, Fight the Good Fight. All joined Irma Chant at the piano in singing My Faith Looks Up To Thee. Leora Raisin read from the Scriptures. A meditative reading on Faith was given by Mrs. Sweet. This was followed by a prayer to God to strengthen us in our Faith. Mrs. Bryan collected the offering which was dedicated by Edith Woods. Roll Call was answered by 14 members. Miss Melissa Henderson was a welcome guest. Helen Cardiff read the minutes of the March and April meetings. Eva Wiltse read a card of thanks from Mrs. L. Russell. Also a card was read from Miss Jean McMachan. A stewardship reading conâ€" cerning the fine Christian work of the Dialogue project amongst the English and French people of Quebec, was read by Mrs. Bryan. Weekâ€"end retreats of people of two languages, inner city involvement in Montreal, Quebec and other centres aid in understanding amongst these people who are so upset at this time. In response to a letter from Portland, arrangements were made to contribute food items for . Ordination social function to be held in Kingston on May 25th. Baptist Pastor Ordained Into Ministry at Service Neilson MacBeth of Athens and Delta Baptist Churches was orâ€" dained into the Ministry of the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec at Delta Baptist Church on Sunday, May 11th. The service was largely attended and was conducted by Mrs. Muriel Harmon of Smith Falls, Moderator of Canada Central Association of Baptists Churches. The scripâ€" tures were read and prayer offered by Rev. Donald Timpany of Smith Falls. The sermon was preached by Dr. Murray Ford of McMaster Divinity College Hamilton. ministry of music was by the choir of First Baptist Church, Smith Falls who sang a selection entitled "Go Into The World." Taking part of the laying of hands were Mrs. Pearl Moore, Mrs. Lena Ward, Fred Fouzie, Miss Jean McMachen and Mrs. Lloyd Irwin from the Pastorate and also the ministers in attend- ance, the Right Hand of Fellowâ€" ship being extended by Rev. L DELTA UNITED CHURCH A memorable service was held in Delta United Church on May 11th. The theme was Sharing Our Strength. The service opened with a call to Worship and Prayer by Rev. Grant Richardson. The congregation sang Praise T6 The Lord. After the prayer of confession the choir sang Jesus Is Near. Mr. Richardson then gave the Scripture reading. He then thanked Mrs. Hilda Cardiff for the generous gift to the Memorial Fund in memory of her aunt, Miss Jennie (Janie) Miller. Mrs. Cardiff then spoke of her aunt's Christian life and dedicated a Memorial Plaque in her memory. Mr. Richardson then introâ€" duced Jim and Jean Hatton of Brockville. They, each in turn, spoke at length of their interesting witness in Steward- ship Opportunity Now Program.
