HIDEAU DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL RIDEAU DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR MATH CONTEST ‘The 1980 Junior Mathematics Contest was written by over 26,000 students from 1100 schools in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Germany, the U.S.A., and from all provinces in Canada except P.E.I. The team from Rideau District High School placed second among the seven Leeds and Grenville schools competing in the contest. The following students from Rideau District High School wrote the 1980 Junior Mathematics Contest. The school team members (top 5 students) were Lise Dwyre, Stuart . Fielding, David Virtue, Pat Raison and Tom Sawyer. RIDEAU GYMNASTICS' TEAM Rideau's gymnastics team did exâ€" ceptionally well at this year's EOSSA. There were five members on the team and each girl placed in the top ten in their individual events. Anne Marie Skoryna took first place in junior vault which will qualify her for the allâ€"Ontario on May 3. Miss Skoryna also placed fourth on junior floor. Heather Stanton placed fifth on floor and sixth on beam. Daphne Mattes another junior placed seventh in vault and fourth on bars. Paula Nichols and Kendra Gray represented Rideau in the interâ€" mediate division. Kendra Gray with some last minute changes in her routine came up with a strong sixth on the uneven bars, while close friend Paula Nichols with a very creative floor routine got a sixth and a fifth on the beam. The team had a short season but were overjoyed with the results of their hard work. The girls Would like to thank their coaches Joan and Van Kenâ€" nedy for all the time and effort they put into the team. The girls also feel that their coaches deserve a lot of the credit for the results of the EOSSA.
