l v **DELTA DATA DELTA JUNIOR CITIZENS Delta Junior Citizens, a group for High School Students was formed in October, 1976, under the sup- ervision of Sherron White and June Greenhorn° The group meets Tues- day evenings at the Legion Hall. One evening each month, they gather at Beverley Elementary School for sportso To raise money for activities and equipment, the Junior Citizens held a bottle drive and a Walkâ€"aâ€"thon in October° In the past months, the Junior Citizens chartered a bus to go to Brockville for an evening of bowling in November, and as a group they participated in the Remembrance Day service. In Dec- ember, the Junior Citizens made up Christmas fruit baskets for shut-ins, and on December 25rd. went Christmas Carolling in the Village° A Christmas party and gift-exchange followed at the Results and "enjoy- Legion Hall. ment" are strictly conjectures at this time° Recently the Junâ€" ior Citizens entered two teams in an allâ€"day Christian Youth Volley- ball Tournament, held at Queen's University, Saturday, February 19¢. A dinner and dance followed the tournament. Those Junior Citizens who participated in the tournament and festivities enjoyed themselves and had one great day! Special thanks go to Alice and DicK Leeson, who volunteered to accompany the , group. As a community service, the Junior Citizens canvassed for the Heart Fund during February, under the direction of Gary Raison, the Heart Fund Representative for Delta. Future activities and prog- rammes are now being planned for Delta Junior Citizens. For infor- mation please call Sherron White, 928â€"”6é3, or June Grennhorn, 928-2107. 2nd, 3rd, from 16 'Next meeting 6’ Plans Underway for Delta Maple Syrup The Delta Maple Syrup Festival Com- mittee had a meeting on Thursday Feb- ruary 10/77 at 8 P.M. in the fire hall. The executive for this year is as follows: President: Arch Osrom Secretary: Sally Halladay Treasurer: Audrey Talbot Advertising: Alice Lesson Others on the committee are: Margaret Morris, Irma Chant, Jane Breedyk, Percy Kirby, Ron Morris, Bill Evans. This year there will only be eleven farmers instead of fifteen taking .part by inviting the public to visit their sugar houses and sugar bushes. The price of the pancakes & syrup will be the same as last year: Adults 81.75 and children 12 years and under $1.00. Vistors will still be welcomed to go .through Confederated Foods Plant to see how syrup is processed and bot- tled. There will also be tables in the front room of the plant with syrup and cheese for sale. This is the 11th year that the fest- ival has been held and each year pro- ves to be better than the year before. Each year some of the proceeds are Spent on new equipment for the fest- ival. Since it is all volunteer workers, the committee tries to have proper things to work with. This past year the committee had a banquet after the festival for the workers and the farmers. Money was given to the dif- ferent organizations in the village to help them. This endeavour involves around 200 people working to make it a success. It is nice to see so many people from the village and miles a- round, being able to work together for three_days with verv little discord. This years festival will be held on Friday, Saturday Sunday. April 1st., A.M. to 6 P.M. each day. Each day the Confederated Foods Plant ‘will close at 5 P.M. There will be brochures available at the festival with a map showing how to get to the farms taking part. will be March 5/77 at '7:45 P.M. in the fire hall.
