"I BEVERLEY ELEMENTARX §CHOOL CON'T Festival the students in Grades 1 to 8 are taking part in a poster contest sponsored by the organizing committee of the festival. Three winners will be chosen from each grade and the win- ning posters will be on display at the hall during the three days of the festival. Congratulations to Barbara Lavier, Mary Richardson, Tracey Mallette, Karen Raison, Sharon Leeson, Brenda Derrin and Marilyn Halladav who were the winners in the poem and essay contest sponsored by the Delta Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Congratulations to Pat Davison, a Grade Eight student at our school who placed second in the intermediate division of a public speaking contest held in the portland Community Hall. This contest was sponsored by the Elgin-Portland Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Pat was eligible to go on to the next stage of the contest that was held in Mallorytown on Friday, March llth. However, due to a prior commitment, Pat was unable to attend. Several of our pupils took part in a gymnastics display at Rideau District High School on Wednesday evening, March 9th. A large number of parents from the Delta area were in attendance From the calibre of the routines pre- sented by pupils of all divisions, it is evident that a great deal was acâ€" complished during the Wednesday even- ing sessions. It is to be hoped that a similar programme will be offered to the elementary students of the area again next year.
