The Pastoral Charge Choir joined the choirs of Elgin and Portland United Churches in singing an Easter Cantata, "The Sorrow, The Victory". Mrs. Marilyn McLennan directed the cantata and Mrs. Marion Seeley and Mrs. Iva Sweet accompanied on the organ and the piano. Rev. H. Seeley read the lessons. On Sunday. April 17th, an Old Time Methodist Service was held at Olivet United Church. Members of the congregation wore centennial garments and sang many of the hyms of bygone days. The Church was lit by many antique lamps and lanterns, belonging to friends and members. The Rev. Campbell McLean gave a history of the Methodist Church and also that of Olivet Church in his address. and one of the oldest members. Mr. George Hill. recalled incidents and people of long ago. Special guests were two torner ministers and their ladies, Dr. & Mrs. S.A.R. Delve,and Rev. & Mrs. Barry Armstrong. and also members of Seeley's Bay and Lyndhurst Churches. A Pot Luck supper was held before the service. We wish to thank all those who made these two occasions a success. Wednesday, May llth, brings a tea and display of “Treasures, 01d and New“. This will be held at Olivet Church from 2.30 - 4.30 and from 7 p.n. to 9 p.m. All friends of Olivet are invited. A nominal charge for the tea will be 50 cents.
