I‘ NOTES FROM THE TOWNSHIP OF SOUTH CROSBY # The Services 1977, to Ministry of Community and Social have announced week June 19th to 25th honour Ontario's Senior Citizens. The Council of the Corporation of the Township of South Crosby are holding a supper, under the auspices of the Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, on Tuesday, June let, 1977, at the Community Room at the Fire Dept., starting at 5.30 â€" 6 p.m., and all Senior Citizens of our Municipality are invited. To enable the Ladies Auxiliary to prepare the supper, we would appreciate if our Senior Citizens would telephone the Municipal Office (359-5830), or drop into the office, or write, so that we will know how many to prepare for. The Council of the Corporation of the Township of South Crosby were successful in acquiring approximately 41 acres of land frontâ€" ing on the south shore of Powell Bay, Sand Lake, described as being parts of Lot 11, Con. 5, Township of South Crosby, for the development of an Approved Park. The Municipality proposes to provide a swimming area, picnic and sanitary facilities. The Ministry of Natural Resources, under the Parks Assistance Act, has announced the approval of a Provincial Grant of $30,000.00 to the Township of South Crosby; $25,000.00 for acquisition and $5,000.00 for development. Further assistance has been obtained through grants from Subdivision Development. The Council of the Township of South Crosby may obtain grants up to $75,000.00 for further development. STRAWBERRIES â€" THE SOCIALABLES - CLASSIC STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE SHORTCAKE 2% cups sifted all-purpose flour 3 tblsp. white sugar 4 tsp. baking powder % tsp. salt 6 tblsp. butter 3/4 - 1 cup light cream 2 tblsp. soft butter FILLING AND TOPPING cups sliced strawberries tblsp. white sugar pint whipping cream tsp. white sugar tsp. vanilla, or 1 tsp. vanilla sugar cup perfect berries for the Shortcake Cut the butter inâ€" a pastry blender, 1. Sift the dry ingredients together into a large bowl. to the dry ingredients with or 2 forks. 2. Stir the cream in with a mixture together lightly to form a ball. The amount of cream varies; use only enough to form the ball, otherwise the dough will be too stick y. Turn the dough onto a lightlyâ€"floured board and knead for 1 minute. 3. Divide the dough in half and roll into 2 equal circles, % inch thick. Place one layer on a lightly-floured baking sheet. Spread with soft butter. Place the other layer on top. Bake at 4250 for 20-25 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool on a rack. fork, pressing the
