Canada Works Grant to Provide Homemakers Services for North Leeds We're happy to announce that we have been successful in securing a Canada Works Grant to provide homemakers ser- vices in North Leeds. This service will be provided free of charge to in- dividuals and families who require it. Under this project two full time home- makers will be hired to help families who are in need of service but who do not qualify for assistance under other government programs. -As of today (November 22nd) only one of these pos- itions have been filled and applications are still being received. Many of our elderly citizens are living in isolated situations. In spite of these conditions which often make it more difficult for the older person to cope with the problems of aging, there are strong ties to the community and strong resistance to institutional liâ€" ving, such as old age homes. These homemakers will enable the older person to stay in his/her home and still re- ceive the special care he/she needs. While the service is primarily direc- ted at elderly persons, it would also be available for convalescent persons 311212335 (flaunt? gntiquts ant the fisher Main WOOD BURNING STOVES INFORMATION ON HUNTER WOOD AND OIL BURNING FURNACES AVAILABLE antique and old stripped and in St. NOW ON DISPLAY " FISHER AND VALLEY COMFORT ORDER NOW AND AVOID ANY DELAY IN SHIPMENT We have a complete Phone Homemakers Services Con't... who need assistance in regaining inde- pendent management of the household. Some of the duties of the homemaker include caring for children, the sick and the elderly, planning and preparing nourishing meals, light housework, and simple nursing under the direction of a doctor or nurse. The two homemakers will be supervised by Mrs. Shirley Green our V.O.N. nurse. The homemaker service is based on the idea that home is the most acceptable setting and is less costly than institution care.
