i E i i [ RECREATION AND CENTRE BOARD, NEWBORO The first meeting of the 1978 Recrea- tion and Centre Board of Newboro was held on January 18, with the following members present: Edgar Bresee, Karen McCarthy, Marion Seed, Margaret Pritchard, Arnold Weir, Colleen McClelâ€" lan. Absent - Art Taylor. Moved by Margaret Pritchard, seconded by Marion Seed that Edgar Bresee be appointed Chairman. Moved by Marion Seed, seconded by Karen McCarthy that Margaret Pritchard be appointed Secretary. The Secretary was asked to publish a notice of appreciation to volunteers who helped at the Ball Park this winter, cutting trees, etc. Also to publish the dates of our future meetings, which, it was decided, will be held on the last Wednesday of each month, 7:30 p.m. at the Court House. A request was presented for a repre- sentative from Newboro, to serve on the Executive Committee of the newly formed Ski Club for North and South Crosby. No action was taken on this at this time. Ball park projects were discussed â€" re need for new bleachers and also the posâ€" sibility of buying Bar-B-Ques for the park area. NEWBORO COMMUNITY CONCERT Newboro folk got together for an old fashioned Christmas concert the Wed. be- fore Christmas. It was a snowy, stormy day but lots of fun was had inside the Star Temple, in fact there was standing room only. Reeve Rasmussen was master of cere- monies. The show included songs, plays, impersonations and skits were enjoyed by all. Andy McLellan won a prize for his "On the Good Ship Lollipop", the old Shirley Temple number. The Newboro Council led the audience in a carol sing and Mr. Boston and Mr. Brandon closed with a few thoughts for Christmas. It is hoped that we will have more of these.
