The vacancy on Council has been filled by Mr. Mike Tanner. CROSS COUNTRY SKIING South Crosby Recreation Committee has become aware of the increased interest in this fine Sport. It has been suggested that municipal trails should be set up, perhaps in each of the three main village areas. Skiiers may find it enjoyable to form a club as the snowmobilers have done. Any interested skiiers are invited to attend the Winter Carnival in Elgin on Saturday, January 28th. to enjoy group skiing. They enjoy having trails, just as you do, and are most frustra- ted to have them ruined by snow machines. The Rideau Ridge Rid rs have cut and marked ex- cellent trails; please stay on them. Also, permission has been granted (sometimes not too easilyQ to cross private properties. Without this permission, we could not have continuous trails. In return for permission to use these private properties, we must respect the wishes of the owners. Some operators are breaking some of the basic rules of good sense and good manners, and the consequence could be closure of the trails for every- one.
