MDEAU CRAFTS FA The first meeting of the new Board of Directors took place Tuesday June 2lst at the home of Pat McManus, our Pres- ident. It was decided that each member of the Board should concentrate on specific fields to ensure that all crafts (whether practiced at the moment in our area or not) would be on the curriculum throughout the year. The roles were subsequently divided as follows: Proâ€" gram Planningâ€"Renie Milne, New Objecâ€" tives-Diane Haskins, Planning Committee â€"Mary Warren, Pottery-Doris Graham, Puâ€" blic Relationsâ€"phylliss Scott, Histoâ€" rianâ€"Kay Merriman, Lantern Columnistâ€" Constance Ryan (Viceâ€"President), Chairâ€" person for China Painters-Marion Stone (Treasurer) and our Recording Secretary is Vera Slemon. The main concern of this meeting was the future involvement of Rideau Crafts. Kay Merriman brought up the experience with crafts which was a true success at the Rideau Centennial School this past year. She mentioned that contacts should be emphasized between the older craftsâ€" persons in our area and the children. Renie Milne offered her studio for deâ€" monstrations on stitchery and other crafts while Doreen McManus suggested we look into St. Lawrence College's crafts program whereby people interested in attending special demonstrations could do so at any time without being officially registered as students. All members were in favour of more conâ€" tact with the community and a closer look at a new orientation for Rideau Crafts. All in all, the meeting was a very productive one and we are looking forward to starting the field work next September. As you probably know, Rideau Crafts is no longer in charge of the Summer Market in Crosby. Joyce Huntley has taken over and you may contact Joyce at 272- 2658. Memberships for 1978-79 are now due. Our membership fee is only $3 and we encourage everyone to join or to renew their memberships, by contacting the Tre33urer, Marion Stone (359-5292) in Forfar. ' Rideau Craft News
