DAY CAMP For the past three weeks, many children in the South Crosby area have enjoyed the sun and fun at the South Crosby Day Camp, operating at the Township Beach. Director of the program, Marie Earl, swimming instructor, Brenda Tetley, camp counsellors, Julia Sheffield and Penny Williams, along with several helpers, Kerry Bock, David Stanton, Holly Hubel and Suzette O'Hearn offer a wide variety of talents and interests to the children. who attend. The program includes arts and crafts, drama, creative learning exper- iences, swimming lessons, music and many games. The children have also travelled to Foley ' Mountain and the Westport Beach, are going this week to Kingston to view the Discovery Train and to swim and play at Lake Ontario Park, and spent one night camp- ing at the hush. Each week offers a different theme and lots of fun...bubble blowing and toe- painting contests! I The salaries of the perman- ent staff are paid by the Board of Education; all other expenses are covered by a $2,000. grant from the Township, including the busing, the salaries of the help- ers, all su ies, installation of the telep one and repairs to the swimming raft. Registration fees ($5.00 er child for the entire summer , money raised at swim-a-thons this year and last, and cool-aid sales also help in defraying these expenses. This year the children raised nearly 500.00 at the swim-a-thon! For those of you who can find it, the Township Beach is a beautiful spot. The land is flat, open to the sun at the waterfront, well-treed back near the camp cottage and change houses, is equipped with picnic tables, and swings of a sort. And, despite the fact that there is a day camp operating, there is plenty of room for those who just wish I to enjoy this lovely property. We invite all residents of I the area to come, view the program in action, have a swim or just relax. in the sun. We do ask that you not tamper with the swimming raft or the buoy lines, or inter- , fere with swimming lessons when they are in progress. And, I please do refrain from acts 5 of vandalism. We in South [ Crosby have a beautiful public I beach, a joy for those of us who do not own cottages in the area. We thank the Council of South Crosby Township for having thednsight to purchase such a valuable property and confined above Hawk hope that their interest in its development will make it one of which they, too, will be prOud.
