A delegation of concerned residents met with Council concerning the Seeley's Bay ferry. Ferry operator, Bob Aldridge, reported that over $8,000. has been spent this summer on the operation and maintenance of the ferry, but it is still hazardous. Operating hours have been cut due to the lack of lights and the landings are in need of repair. Mr. Aldridge explained that even with these repairs, the ferry remains ob- solete, and considering the increasing number. of passengers in need of this service, the monies could better be Spent on a road connecting with Burnt Hills Road. RnSIDnNTS. Mr. C.G. Larry Rutter, of Jaycy Kennels, C.K.C. Reg'd., situated on Highway Frontenac # 12, between Highway 15 and the villag: of Sunbury, has excellent kennel space for boarding a limited number of dogs and cats. Every animal is individualy attended to grooming, exercise etc., with training upon request. Pet owners can also purchase dog and cat supplies and food at very moderate prices. Two tenders were opened at the past meeting for the snowplow/sander with the contract going to Frink Co. The lone tender of Edward's Ford Mercury was accepted for the truck at $33,268.00. Mrs. Shirley Green, Victorian Order of Nurses reported on the Homeâ€" maker Programme which fills a great need for people who don‘t qualify for other home care programmes. This assistance is for those with chronic disabilities, who can manage at home with some outside help. A note of interest from the June 5th meeting of Council is the agreeâ€" ment of the Austen-Barclay Home in Athens to provide hostel accommodation for persons from the township who are sustained under the General Welfare Assistance Act for a fee of $12/day, subject to approval of the Ministry of Community & Social Services. Also in June, Council petitioned the Ministry of National Resources for the continuation of lake trout fishing season as is. This is from the second Saturday in March to September 8th, and is in the interests of the tourist industry in the area to keep these existing dates.
