PAGE FOURTEEN NORTHiLBEDS EANTERN Sweets Corners School Committee NOTES The School Committee at Sweet's Corners held a lively meeting last month. * Guests at the meeting were Pen Baxter and Lyle MacLennan of the Board of Education.Mr.Baxter gave an address explaining the Criteria Reference Tests used to measure students'academic level in this County.His talk was fol- lowed by a discussion period,durâ€" ing which the two guests answerâ€" ed many questions. * Money has been designated by the Board of Education for im- provement of the School facility. Mr.Eyre,Principal,outlined how the money will be used.Priority is to be given to improvements hav1ng a direct effect on pupils and their education. * The School Committee passed a motion that the Pastâ€"Chairman be made an exâ€"officio member of the executive for the following term of office.It is hoped that this move will give the School Committee a sense of continuity . and avoid duplication of work from year to year. *Mr.Eyre distributed a report by the Morale Committee on the Awards System.This proposal to establish awards recognizing student merit has been under dis~ cussion since November'77. *Mr.Hans Koopman was elected as alternate Executive member for Fred Carpenter,who will be unable to complete his full term. * Plans are underway for a "Fam- ily Night” at the school with C.Nielson,P.Lamont,and E.Scheiâ€" trowsky taking charge of arrange- ments.An evening of fun is planâ€" ned and the School Committee hopes to raise funds. * The next General Meeting of the Committee is to be held May 3rd.Dr.Lloyd Dennis,Director of Education,will speak on “The Parâ€" ent's Role in Education".All are welcome. *The date of the last General Meeting has been set for Jun.7. This is an important meeting as the Executive for the 1978â€"79 school year will be elected.Nom- inations close May 3rd,'78. new. The April meeting was held at the home of Mrs.Iva Sweet.Ruth opened the meeting with a poem, "Easter and Spring".Mrs,Audrey Welch held an interesting devoâ€" tional,"Some Things Need to be Watered."Roll call was answered by 14 Ladies and 2 guests. A thank you note was read from Rev.Kent Clayton,Ministry for the Deaf. The group was invited to atâ€" tend the Delta U.C.W.'s Thank Offering Easter Service on Apr. 12th. A report was given on the Seeleys Bay workshop.
