NORTH LEEDS LANTERN The swimming area and teachâ€" PORTLAND , PICKIN’S Portland Community Forum The Portland Community Forum met recently at the Portland Comâ€" munity Hall with Alex Graham in the chair. Mr. Graham reported on the visit of Mr.Ken Carter from the Ontario Ministry of Recâ€" reation and Culture. Mr. Carter outlined the procedure of organizâ€" ing a township recreation committâ€" ee. The township can obtain 25% from the province for approved exâ€" penditures with the remainder coming from the municipality. If a recreation committee were formed at this time Mr. Carter stated it would take eighteen months before any proposals could be implemented. Mr. Mike Hutchison reported on the rink at the government dock. The rink is being used quite a bit but the location makes it difficult for equipâ€" ment to move the snow. Mrs. Marina Keely offered the site in front of her home for a pos- sible rink in the future. ing program were discussed. Mrs. Kelly will contact the Rideau Lake Association to enquireobomf use of their program. She also volunteerdthe use of their boat to ferry the children to and from the program. The Forum and St.Lawrence College are sponsoring an evenâ€" ing to educate the public re our Municipal government at the Portland Hall Wednesday March 8 at 7:30 P.M. Do you know all you would like to know about our Municipal government? Come out and ask questions, we'd love to see you there. PORTLAND COMMUNITY HALL FISH TO FRY? A Fish Fry will be held on Sat. Mar. 4, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. The menu consists of bullheads,baked potato, coleslaw,bread,pie and tea or coffee. The fry is sponsored by Emmanuel Anglican Church.
